what gets counted

i'm curious about how the plugin is doing, so these are the numbers i keep

downloads

the total counts requests through the install and update links, including retries and reinstalls, starting with version 0.1.13

i keep daily totals by version and country, plus an estimate of unique downloaders each day

the service receives an IP address as part of the request, turns it into a digest using a random key for that UTC day, and stores only the digest for deduplication; the app doesn't save raw IP addresses

only the current and previous UTC day's digests and keys are kept; older ones are removed during requests and by a daily cleanup, while the combined counts remain

shared connections can look like one downloader, and a changing connection can look like several, so these aren't exact people counts

daily usage is optional

“Share basic usage statistics” starts off in Settings; you can turn it on or off whenever you like

when it's on, the plugin sends its version and one random-looking token for that UTC day in the background; retries use the same token and count once

the token changes daily, comes from a random seed kept on your computer, and isn't a character, account or hardware ID; notes, targets, names, chat and gameplay aren't sent

country comes from Cloudflare's request information; i keep daily totals of participating installations, not a list of who uses the plugin

cookies

website clicks go to anonymous on the leaderboard; in-game clicks only include your character name and home world if you turn on “Show me on the leaderboard”

cookie counts and retry IDs stay saved so a delayed reply doesn't count the same clicks twice; pending website clicks stay in this tab's session storage until sent

cookie identities aren't connected to download or usage statistics

who sees what

the cookie leaderboard and total downloads are public; the country, version and daily charts need my private dashboard password

the dashboard uses a secure session cookie for up to eight hours after sign-in; ordinary visitors don't receive it

Cloudflare hosts the site and processes requests under its own privacy policy, including its infrastructure logs
